Yes — we program Sea-Doo and Can-Am keys on-site in South Florida using BRP's own dealer software, BUDS3, and we cover every model year through 2026. That includes all-keys-lost. You do not need to trailer the ski, load the Spyder, or wait for a dealer service appointment. We come to your driveway, your marina, the boat ramp, or wherever the machine is sitting, and the job is finished the same visit.

What BUDS3 actually is, and why it decides whether your key job works

BUDS3 is BRP's current-generation dealer diagnostic software — the same platform a Sea-Doo, Can-Am, or Ski-Doo dealership uses on their service floor. BRP is the parent company of all three brands, which is why one tool covers a jet ski, a Spyder, and a Defender alike.

This matters more on BRP products than on almost anything else on the water or the road, because of how their security system is built.

Sea-Doo watercraft use D.E.S.S. — the Digitally Encoded Security System. Can-Am Spyder and Ryker use a DESS key as well. The key is not a key in the way a house key is a key; it is a transponder that has to be registered to the specific ECU in your specific hull or frame. There is no such thing as a Sea-Doo key you can buy pre-cut and use. A key that has never been introduced to your machine's computer is an inert lanyard.

That registration is a write operation to the ECU, and BRP gates it behind their own software. This is the reason so many owners end up stuck:

  • The dealer can do it, but wants the machine brought to them and put in the queue.

  • Most locksmiths cannot do it at all, because powersports and marine security is outside what automotive equipment covers.

  • Aftermarket and cloned diagnostic boxes sold online frequently fail on current model years, or write incorrectly and leave the ECU in a state that then genuinely does require a dealer.

We run the OEM software. That is the whole difference, and it is why our coverage runs current instead of stopping a few model years back.

Sea-Doo — what we cover

Every model year through 2026, across the full lineup:

  • Rec Lite: Spark, Spark Trixx

  • Recreation: GTI, GTI SE

  • Touring: GTX, GTX Limited, Explorer Pro

  • Performance: GTR, GTR-X, RXP-X, RXT-X

  • Tow Sports: Wake, Wake Pro

  • Sport Fishing: FishPro Scout, FishPro Sport, FishPro Trophy

  • Pontoon: Switch series

Plus the entire back catalogue of DESS-equipped Sea-Doos going back to the introduction of the system.

What we do on a Sea-Doo:

  • New DESS key programmed to your hull, including all keys lost — no existing key required

  • Additional and spare keys registered

  • Removing lost or stolen keys from the ECU's memory, so a key that walked off with someone is permanently dead to your ski

  • Learning keys after an ECU replacement

  • Diagnosing DESS faults that are not the key — corroded post, failed antenna, post wiring, or a key the ski reads but rejects

  • Rental and livery fleet key management

That third item is the one people underestimate. If your key was stolen rather than lost, cutting a new one solves half the problem. De-authorizing the old one solves the other half.

Can-Am — what we cover

Every model year through 2026, on-road and off-road:

  • On-road 3-wheel: Spyder RT (including Sea-to-Sky), Spyder F3 and F3-S (including Limited Special Series), Ryker and Ryker Rally, Canyon

  • Electric motorcycles: Pulse (roadster), Origin (adventure)

  • Off-road: Maverick, Defender, Outlander, Renegade, Commander

What we do on a Can-Am:

  • DESS key programming for Spyder, Ryker, and Canyon, including all keys lost

  • Key registration on the Pulse and Origin electric motorcycles

  • Spare and additional keys

  • Removing lost or stolen keys from memory

  • Key learning after ECU or cluster replacement

  • Ignition and lock cylinder repair, rekeying, storage and top case locks

  • Off-road unit keys — Maverick, Defender, Outlander, Renegade, Commander

Worth knowing about the Spyder specifically: it ships with a standard key and a valet/limited key, the second one restricting speed and performance. Owners frequently discover they only ever had one of the two, or bought the machine used and received the wrong one. Both can be programmed.

Why a Can-Am and a Sea-Doo are the same job to us

BRP builds both, so both use the same security architecture and the same dealer software. A shop set up to do one is set up to do the other — and a shop set up for neither is guessing on both.

That is genuinely unusual in the trade. Automotive locksmiths do not carry BRP equipment. Marine dealers do not typically service three-wheelers. Motorcycle shops do not touch watercraft. If you own both a ski and a Spyder — which in South Florida is a very common pair — that is normally two different problems with two different providers. Here it is one call.

We come to the machine

Mobile service throughout Broward County, Miami-Dade County, and Palm Beach County, 24/7. Home, marina, dry storage, boat ramp, dealership lot, roadside, or a parking lot at the sandbar. No trailer required, no dealer appointment, no waiting for a service slot in the middle of the season.

Most Sea-Doo and Can-Am key jobs are finished on-site in 30 to 90 minutes.

Proof of ownership and photo ID are required on every all-keys-lost job. Registration or title matching your ID, logged before any work starts. We are a NASTF Approved Vehicle Security Professional (VSP ID IM6RTK7X) and we do not make exceptions to this — the ability to originate a key to a machine is exactly the capability a thief needs, and any shop willing to skip that step is the reason skis and Spyders get stolen.

Common questions

Can a Sea-Doo key be programmed if all keys are lost?

Yes. Because DESS keys are registered electronically rather than cut mechanically, an all-keys-lost Sea-Doo is not a fundamentally harder job than adding a spare — a new key is written to the ECU with the OEM software. Proof of ownership is required. No trailer to a dealer is needed.

Can I just buy a Sea-Doo DESS key online?

You can buy the physical key, but it will not start your ski. Every DESS key must be registered to your specific hull's ECU before it will do anything. Any listing advertising a "pre-programmed" Sea-Doo key is describing something that is not possible — the seller has never had access to your machine.

Do you cover 2026 Sea-Doo and Can-Am models?

Yes. We run current BRP BUDS3 software, so coverage runs through the current model year rather than stopping several years back the way aftermarket tools typically do.

Does the same tool cover Can-Am and Sea-Doo?

Yes. BRP is the parent company of both brands and both use the same diagnostic platform. One visit can cover a ski and a Spyder.

Can you delete a stolen key from my Sea-Doo?

Yes, and you should do this rather than only adding a new one. Keys are removed from the ECU's authorized list, which permanently disables the missing key on your machine.

My DESS key stopped working after a battery change — is the key dead?

Usually not. This is a common and well-known pattern, and it is far more often a registration or contact issue than a failed key. Clean the DESS post and key contacts — salt corrosion on the post is the single most common cause — and re-seat firmly. If it still will not take, the key needs re-registering, not replacing.

How do I know if it's the key or the ski?

Count the beeps. The DESS system reports its state audibly: one beep is normal acceptance, two generally means the key is being read but is not authorized to that hull, and a rapid series usually means the post is not reading a key at all. If you have a second key that works, the problem is the first key.

Can you program a Can-Am Spyder valet key?

Yes. Both the standard key and the limited-performance valet key can be programmed.

Do you program keys for Can-Am off-road units?

Yes — Maverick, Defender, Outlander, Renegade, and Commander.

What does it cost?

It depends on the model and whether it is an all-keys-lost job. We give a firm number over the phone before we roll out — free estimate, no surprises on arrival.

How fast can you get here?

We run 24/7 across the tri-county area. Call and we will give you a real arrival window, not a "sometime today."
