All Keys Lost — Motorcycle, Jet Ski & Scooter Key Replacement South Florida
Bike n Boat Locksmith | South Florida's Only Mobile Motorcycle & Marine Locksmith
Serving Miami-Dade, Broward & Palm Beach County — (954) 932-0736
No key. No spare. No backup. Nowhere to turn.
If you've lost every key to your motorcycle, jet ski, scooter, or powersports vehicle — and you're reading this from a parking lot, a marina, a driveway, or a boat ramp — you are in exactly the right place.
All keys lost is the most stressful, most urgent, and most commonly turned-down scenario in the powersports locksmith world. Most general locksmiths won't touch it. Most dealerships want you to tow the vehicle in and wait two weeks. Most online advice doesn't apply to your specific make, model, or security system.
At Bike n Boat Locksmith, all-keys-lost is one of our most common jobs. We handle it daily — on motorcycles, jet skis, scooters, ATVs, and side-by-sides — at your location, same day, using the correct tools for each specific platform. No tow. No appointment. No guesswork.
This page explains exactly what all-keys-lost means, how we solve it for every type of powersports vehicle, and why South Florida riders and watercraft owners trust us to get it done when everyone else says no.
What "All Keys Lost" Actually Means
All keys lost means exactly what it sounds like: there is not a single working key anywhere. Not in a drawer. Not at a friend's house. Not in a bag you haven't checked yet. Zero working keys exist for the vehicle.
This is critically different from having one working key and needing a spare. When at least one working key exists, most programming and cutting processes are simpler — the existing key can often be used to authorize new key registration.
When no working key exists, the process changes entirely. The technician must initiate a full re-registration or re-authentication sequence without any existing key authorization — a more complex procedure that requires either deeper software access, physical bypass techniques, or OEM-level diagnostic tools depending on the vehicle's security platform.
This is why all-keys-lost eliminates most locksmiths from the conversation immediately. It requires specialized knowledge, the right equipment for the specific vehicle, and experience completing the job successfully — not just attempting it.
All Keys Lost on Motorcycles
How Motorcycle Security Systems Work
Modern motorcycles use one of two primary security approaches: mechanical ignition only (no transponder chip in the key), or transponder-equipped ignitions with an immobilizer system that prevents the engine from starting unless a correctly programmed chip is detected.
Knowing which system your motorcycle uses — and having the right solution for it — is what separates a specialist from a general locksmith who "thinks they can try."
Mechanical Ignition Motorcycles (No Transponder)
Many motorcycles — particularly older models, Chinese-platform bikes, and smaller displacement machines — use a purely mechanical ignition. The key is a standard metal blade with no electronic component. Security is entirely in the physical cut of the blade turning the cylinder.
For all-keys-lost on a mechanical ignition, the solution is straightforward: identify the ignition cylinder's key profile, cut a new key to that profile, test and confirm. No computer. No programming. No OBD connection.
The challenge is knowing the profile — especially on off-brand, Chinese-platform, and lesser-known manufacturers where the profile doesn't appear in standard locksmith databases. This is where hands-on experience with these systems matters enormously.
Transponder-Equipped Motorcycles
Higher-end and newer motorcycles use transponder chips embedded in the key head. The immobilizer reads the chip's unique digital signature each time the key is inserted — if the signature isn't recognized, the engine will not start regardless of whether the blade turns the cylinder correctly.
For all-keys-lost on a transponder motorcycle, the process requires:
Cutting a new key blade to the correct profile
Identifying the transponder chip type for the specific make, model, and year
Programming the new chip to match the immobilizer's expected signature
Without the correct programming equipment and the right blank with the right chip, the key will turn the ignition and do nothing. The engine stays locked.

All Keys Lost on Jet Skis & Personal Watercraft
The DESS System and Why It Matters
Sea-Doo personal watercraft use BRP's DESS (Digitally Encoded Security System) — a platform that digitally registers each key or fob to the specific watercraft's ECM. A DESS key that hasn't been registered to your watercraft will not allow it to start, and the dashboard will display a "Wrong Key" warning.
On older Sea-Doo models, DESS used a physical tether system with a magnetic interface. On newer models — 2020 and up — BRP migrated to an RF (Radio Frequency) DESS key fob platform with a more sophisticated digital registration process.
All-keys-lost on a Sea-Doo requires BRP BUDS3 — the OEM dealer diagnostic software — to perform a full key registry wipe and re-registration. There is no substitute for this tool on modern Sea-Doo platforms. Generic programmers fail. Aftermarket tools fail. BUDS3 is what works, and we carry it on every jet ski service call.
Yamaha WaveRunner All Keys Lost
Yamaha WaveRunner personal watercraft use a security key system that requires programming to the watercraft's ECM. All-keys-lost on a WaveRunner requires the correct Yamaha diagnostic interface and software to re-register new keys without a working key present. We carry Yamaha-compatible programming equipment and handle WaveRunner all-keys-lost jobs throughout South Florida.
Kawasaki Jet Ski All Keys Lost
Kawasaki personal watercraft use a security tether and ignition system that varies by model year. We service all Kawasaki Jet Ski models including the Ultra series, STX, and SX-R platforms for all-keys-lost key replacement.

All Keys Lost on ATVs & Side-by-Sides
Can-Am Off-Road — BRP BUDS3 Required
Can-Am ATVs and side-by-sides use the same BRP security platform as Sea-Doo watercraft — which means all-keys-lost requires the same OEM tool: BRP BUDS3. We program Can-Am keys for all-keys-lost scenarios across the full lineup.
Can-Am Side-by-Sides: Maverick X3 (all configurations) · Maverick Trail · Maverick Sport · Maverick R · Defender HD5–HD15 · Defender MAX · Defender PRO · Commander XT · Commander MAX

Our All Keys Lost Process — Step by Step
We operate with complete transparency on every job. Here is exactly what happens when you call us for an all-keys-lost situation:
Step 1 — Vehicle Identification (On the Phone)
When you call, we ask for the year, make, model, and any available information about the vehicle's security system. We use this to confirm we have the right equipment and blanks before we arrive. We don't show up unprepared and charge you a trip fee for a job we can't complete.
Step 2 — Proof of Ownership
We require registration, title, or bill of sale before performing any all-keys-lost service. This is non-negotiable and protects everyone involved. Have your documentation ready when we arrive.
Step 3 — System Assessment On-Site
When we arrive, we assess the specific ignition cylinder, security module, or ECM platform to confirm our approach. For transponder and digitally secured vehicles, we connect our diagnostic equipment and read the system profile.
Step 4 — Key Cutting and/or Programming
Depending on the vehicle's security system, we cut a new key blade to the correct profile, program the correct transponder chip, or perform a full OEM software re-registration through BUDS3 or equivalent dealer-level tools. Every step is done on-site at your location.
Step 5 — Full Testing Before We Leave
We test every newly made key on the actual vehicle. You watch it start. Any fault codes or security warnings are cleared. We do not leave until the vehicle starts reliably with the new key and the security system confirms the new key as valid.
Total on-site time: 30 to 90 minutes depending on the vehicle and security platform.
What Sets Us Apart on All Keys Lost Jobs
We specialize. We don't generalize.
Every job we take is powersports — motorcycles, jet skis, scooters, ATVs. We don't do house lockouts or car door unlocks. The technician who arrives has done all-keys-lost jobs on your type of vehicle many times before.
We carry the OEM tools.
BRP BUDS3 for Sea-Doo and Can-Am. Manufacturer-compatible interfaces for Yamaha, Kawasaki, Honda, Harley-Davidson, BMW Motorrad, and others. These are not aftermarket approximations — they are the same tools authorized dealerships use.
We have the blanks in stock.
We carry a wide inventory of key blanks and transponder chips on every service call. In the vast majority of cases, we have what's needed to complete the job in one visit without ordering parts.
We are NASTF VSP certified.

Frequently Asked Questions — All Keys Lost
Can you really make a key with absolutely no existing key present?
Yes. All-keys-lost is our specialty. For mechanical ignitions, we identify the profile and cut from scratch. For transponder and digitally secured vehicles, we use OEM software or compatible programming equipment to perform full re-registration without a working key present.
How is all-keys-lost different from just needing a spare key?
When one working key exists, new keys can often be programmed using that key as authorization. With all-keys-lost, no authorization exists and we must bypass or re-initiate the security registration process — a more complex procedure requiring deeper access.
Will you need to replace my ignition or ECM?
Almost never. In the vast majority of all-keys-lost situations, the ignition cylinder and ECM are untouched. We make a new key that works with the existing hardware. Replacement is only considered if the hardware itself is damaged or faulty.
Do you charge more for all-keys-lost than a standard duplicate?
Yes. All-keys-lost requires more time, more specialized equipment use, and more complex procedures than a simple key duplication. We quote the job honestly before we arrive — no surprises on the bill.
What if you can't complete the job?
We don't show up for jobs we're not equipped to complete. If there's any uncertainty about our ability to handle a specific vehicle's all-keys-lost scenario, we tell you on the phone before we take the call — not after we've charged a trip fee.
How long does all-keys-lost take?
Between 30 and 90 minutes on-site depending on the vehicle type and security platform. Mechanical ignitions are faster. OEM software re-registration jobs take longer but are still completed in a single visit in most cases.
Do you work on weekends and after hours?
Yes. We are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including weekends and holidays.
What proof of ownership do you need?
Registration, title, or bill of sale. At least one document confirming you are the lawful owner of the vehicle. This is required before we begin any all-keys-lost service without exception.
